Adam Ziffer walked into our Boca Raton studio (well, into his office, we bring the studio to you) for corporate headshots in Summer 2024 that needed to look modern, confident, and on-brand. Adam and his team are our accountants, clients for nearly three years, so this was less “first session nerves” and more a smooth, efficient refresh: headshots for website bios, business cards, and marketing collateral that read professional without being forgettable.

This shoot was South Florida through and through clean lines, crisp lighting, and a warm-but-neutral palette that reads well on desktop and mobile alike. As a commercial photographer and portrait photographer operating across South Florida, we treat office sessions like mini editorial shoots, bold, precise, and fast.

Concept: Professional with a Modern Edge

We approached Adam’s headshots as small editorial portraits. The brief was simple: serious enough for clients, stylish enough for LinkedIn and social ads. We focused on clean backgrounds, punchy contrast, and flattering directional light that sculpts faces without losing personality.

  1. Purpose: Website bios, business cards, marketing assets

  2. Vibe/Aesthetic: Professional, modern, editorial

  3. Deliverable: Tight headshots, half-body portraits, and team photos for brand consistency

Location: Boca Raton, We Bring the Studio to the Office

We packed the kit and drove the studio to Adam’s office in Boca Raton. On-location headshots save teams time and keep the energy focused. The only real obstacle was finding the best corner of their office: a large window, a neutral wall, and enough room for our lights and a small crew.

In South Florida, environmental factors (heat, humidity, glare) matter more outdoors, but in-office shoots remove the chaos and let us control every aspect. That control is what turns a “company headshot day” into a polished brand moment.

Gear & Lighting: Sony A1 with 70-200mm GM, Editorial Punch on Set

We shot the session on the Sony A1 with the 70-200mm GM for tight compression, beautiful skin rendering, and the option to step back and create flattering background separation. Lighting was a portable mix of Profoto/Godox strobes with softboxes and a kicker for rim light. Our lighting approach is bold and punchy, cinematic but still corporate-appropriate.

Why this setup:

  1. Sony A1 + 70-200mm GM: fast, sharp, and perfect for headshots and half-body frames.

  2. Profoto/Godox strobes on battery: reliable output for on-location work.

  3. Soft, directional light: sculpts facial features while preserving natural skin tones.

  4. Backlight/kicker: separates subjects from background for a premium, editorial look.

If you want a high-end headshot that reads like commercial photography while still being approachable, this is the playbook.

Posing & Direction: Fast, Clear, and Real

With teams, you don’t have time for long coaching sessions. We run a three-stage warm-up:

  1. Loosen up: quick movements, shoulders, and laugh prompts to get natural expressions.

  2. Structure: chin, shoulders, and torso adjustments for flattering lines.

  3. Brand reads: expressions and micro-gestures that match the company tone (authoritative, warm, energetic).

Adam’s team warmed up fast. We kept directions crisp: “Chin down a hair, shoulders relaxed, slight right turn”, little tweaks that make big differences. For group/team shots, we used layered posing: front-row seated, back-row standing with staggered heights and confident posture.

Challenges & Solutions: Office Logistics and Quick Turnaround

Challenge: We had to set up a complete headshot workflow in a working office with limited space, heavy foot traffic, and fluorescent ceiling lights.

Solution: We scoped the space in advance, chose a large, neutral wall near the window, and used battery-powered strobes to overpower ambient light. Portable backdrops and a collapsible reflector smoothed the light from the window. Quick turnovers were essential: two-minute setups between subjects, on-the-fly tweaks, and a streamlined selection process so Adam’s team left with proof sheets and timelines for final retouches.

Key Moments & Highlights

  1. Adam and his staff were easygoing and efficient, the kind of team that elevates a shoot simply by being prepared.

  2. We swapped outfits and backgrounds to give Adam a mix of formal and approachable looks: a navy blazer for the website, an open-collar shirt for social and marketing.

  3. Using the 70-200mm GM allowed us to create a shallow depth-of-field look even in tight spaces, which editorial compression sells professionalism.

If you’re looking for a Boca Raton photographer who treats corporate headshots like commercial photography, this session is a blueprint: fast, stylish, and designed to serve marketing goals.
