Rebecca Riordan came to us in the middle of her FMG Worlds prep for a lightning-fast lingerie and glam session on the Gold Coast, Australia. The brief was simple and urgent: sexy, smoldering, and zero time to waste. As a Boca Raton photographer and South Florida fashion photographer who travels for clients and campaigns, we brought the same bold, punchy editorial approach we use in Miami and Palm Beach straight to her 30‑minute window on set.

This session was packed with purpose, Rebecca needed images that proved the months of fitness work paid off, and fast. We gave her the camera right away, dialed in dramatic light, and turned a tight slot into a brand-defining moment.

Concept: Why lingerie + glam for a fitness competitor?

The goal was to translate stage-ready conditioning into editorial imagery that reads powerful and feminine. Lingerie and glam is the fastest, most direct visual language for a pageant/fitness competitor to show muscle, shape, and presence without distraction. This content fuels:

  1. model portfolio photoshoots,

  2. fitness lifestyle photography for socials and sponsors,

  3. pageant prep promo and personal branding.

We kept the vibe sexy and smoldering, skin tones with punch, sharp shadows, and cinematic rim light to accent every contour Rebecca earned in prep.

Location, Gold Coast, Australia (via a South Florida lens)

Shooting on the Gold Coast gave us sun, surf tones, and that luxe resort energy, but our approach was pure South Florida photographer, high-fashion polish meets commercial grit. Even when we shoot in Miami Beach or Boca Raton photo shoot locations, we chase the same contrasty, editorial energy: bold highlights, deep blacks, and a controlled color palette that flatters skin and muscle definition.

Gear + Camera Choices

We shot on a Sony A1 with the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8. That combo is a dream when you need range, speed, and buttery autofocus in a fast-turnaround session. The lens gives us the flexibility to move from tight beauty portraits to full-body editorial shots without swapping glass, which is critical when you have 30 minutes.

Lighting was bold and punchy editorial: fast shutter, tight flash sync, and shallow DOF for that magazine-ready separation. We leaned on portable strobes that travel well (the Profoto/Godox family is our go-to for South Florida and on-location shoots).

Lighting & Stylings, how we lit a smoldering look in 30 minutes

With no time to warm up, lighting had to be decisive and flattering from the first frame:

  1. Key: a single hard rim/edge light to carve Rebecca’s silhouette against the background.

  2. Fill: a soft, close-in reflector or low-power beauty fill to smooth skin without flattening muscle.

  3. Accent: a hair or background strobe to add depth and keep images cinematic.

We treat lighting like a set of wardrobe tools, swapping intensity and angle instead of clothing. That saved time and kept energy high.

Posing & Direction — immediate, confident, efficient

When you have to be in and out, you don’t over-complicate poses. We gave Rebecca a sequence of three core shapes that translate across angles: an elongated S-curve for glam, a compact power stance for fitness, and a reclined, sultry pose for lingerie. Then we refined:

  1. small hand placements to emphasize lines,

  2. jaw and chin adjustments for strong profiles,

  3. micro-movements to turn static into motion.

The trick: show the shot on the back of the camera instantly. Rebecca saw herself, she reacted, and the “oh wow” moment on her face sold the rest of the session; that is the kind of confidence-building content that helps on-stage and on-brand.

Challenges & Solutions, 30 minutes to a portfolio

Challenge: Rebecca had to be in and out; no warm-up time, no extra outfit changes.

Solution: pre-plan every minute. We arrived with light meters set, two favorite looks pre-checked, and a shooting order that prioritized the strongest, most marketable images first. Giving immediate feedback and showing images on the back of the camera kept momentum up and helped Rebecca lock in poses faster than canned direction ever could.

Key Moments, when she saw herself on the back of the camera

The session’s highlight wasn’t a single pose; it was Rebecca watching the screen between sets and actually seeing the months of prep translated into frame. That immediate validation elevated her performance for the remaining frames and produced the gallery she needed for FMG Worlds promos and social media content. Real-time review is one of those pro-photographer moves that turns good shoots into memorable ones.

How this content works for her brand

These images do more than flatter; they become tools:

  1. Sponsor-ready images for fitness brands and activewear.

  2. Dramatic glam shots for pageant materials and portfolio use.

  3. Social campaigns with high-production value that compete with commercial advertising.

If you’re a model, fitness athlete, or influencer who needs editorial-level imagery that also functions as commercial content, this is precisely the intersection you want.

BTS notes from the set

  1. Warm-up technique: three quick vocal cues, two walk-through poses, and a mirror check, under 90 seconds.

  2. Wardrobe hacks: a quick tape job under lingerie straps for fast changes, and a travel-friendly steamer to avoid time-consuming fixes.

  3. Camera settings: Sony A1 at 1/320–1/640, f/2.8–4 depending on distance, ISO as low as possible for clean files.
